I went to the Meet the Candidates night. One of the questions asked which should happen first, construction of the new building or restoration of the old. I couldn't believe that only one person, Jim Posner realized that there would be too great an interruption in services to do anything but start construction first. Either the other candidates weren't thinking or they had some reason for not wanting to speak up. At least Diane Gaites had her eye on the finances by pointing out that the longer we delay, the higher construction costs will soar.
You probably can't say what you thought of the candidates because you work at the library but I'm curious to see what everybody else thought.

Eric...100 percent of the One for the Books money goes directly to the renovation of the library. The reason for the 80/20 tax deduction split on the tickets is that the HOSTS are bearing a 20 dollar per person cost. So in fact, any ticket sale will actually turn out to be a direct donation. And, on top of it, you get dinner!
